Convened 8 pm at the ANC 4B office: Sara Green, Seth Grimes, Andy Kelemen, Faith Wheeler, constituting a quorum. Discussed the planned Thursday, December 13 Advisory Committee meeting. Expected attendees include Cherita Whiting, Terry Goings, Sylvia Gwathmey, Wolfgang Mergner, Cmdr. Linda Brown, Capt. Ed Coursey. Seth will contact Karla Kelley and Debra Haiduven of the Takoma Park Recreation Department and will send a notice to e-mail lists. The agenda will include a discussion of citizen approaches to street crime, communications and community awareness, and conflict-resolutions/peer-mediation. On CR/PM, Andy and others expressed concern that we have adequate follow-up with attendees at last month's training. Faith will buy approximately 25 whistles as a pilot and look into lanyards. The group is concerned about evaluating success and getting community/advisory buy-in for a larger whistle purchase. It was decided that we would require contact information from everyone who takes a whistle, preferably e-mail, and follow up a month and periodically after the whistle distribution. Safe Takoma may need to reelect board members and officers for 2008. Seth will look at the by-laws and let the group know. If elections are needed, they will be held at the December 13 meeting. We will look into setting a date, probably in early March, for a next Advisory Committee meeting, and we will look into setting quarterly meetings later.
